Hello, friends! Sorry for the delayed post! All is good in the world of the Hewitt family. Last time we posted, we were in Aix en Provence. Craig wrote about it already but I’ll summarize it by saying we love, love, loved it! In fact, we decided we wanted to stay in France much longer.
Like much, much longer.
Our friend, Ashley encouraged us to check out Annecy before making any big decisions and I’m so glad we did! It’s the most gorgeous city in the French alps close the the Swiss border, about 20km from Geneva. The climate was much more hospitable too.
Turns out we can’t handle the heat of the south in summer. We swam in lac Annecy and dined at wonderful restaurants overlooking canals. Annecy is called “the Venice of the alps”.
So that’s our huge news and the reason for our delayed post. We didn’t want to say anything until we were official. And we are now official!
As of yesterday we are proud holders of French visas! We will be living in a little village just outside of town and the kids are enrolled in school to start September 1. We are super excited and can’t wait to take on the new challenge/adventure.
The kid’s school is walking distance from our house and I will be taking language lessons from the mother of the school’s director. We have a lot to learn and a lot of work to do but can’t wait to get started.
We also had a great visit with Ashley and Luna in Lausanne, Switzerland and the kids had a blast playing together. It took literally no time for them all to become great friends.
Our house has a nice fenced in yard for the kids to play in and will be perfect for planting a garden. I’m very excited about decorating it. I’ll definitely be checking out all the local flea markets for art and accessories.
This is the back of the house. We’re excited to get our hands in the dirt and do some gardening/ landscaping.
So that’s what’s up with us. We hope y’all are doing well! Thank you for all the nice messages you’ve sent! And yes, we are accepting visitors!
Congratulations! What a neat looking place. Did you buy the house? I love the pictures and the kids are just as cute as buttons! Good luck with your new adventure in France.
